10:00- 10:45 a.m.STEAM and Design Thinking at the High Museum
Kindergarten-8th Grade
For thousands of years, artists have been using the world around them to be innovators, creative problem solvers, and critical thinkers - just like we ask our students to do in the STEM/STEAM classroom today. Join museum educators from the High Museum of Art as they explore how creative problem solving and design thinking is key to designing interactive and engaging exhibitions that show innovative artistic solutions to contemporary issues.
Kate McLeod, Head of School and Teacher Services at the High Museum of Art
10:45- 11:30 a.m.Museum of Aviation Presents Forces of Flight
2nd-5th Grade
Join the Museum of Aviation for a virtual tour of the Century of Flight building and a behind-the-scenes look at the science and engineering of aircrafts. Students will hear about the Forces of Flight- drag, weight, lift, and thrust- and will have the option to apply what they learn to create their own paper airplane.
Patty Forehand
11:30- 12:30 p.m.Can you Trust your Text Messages? A Hands-on Introduction to Cybersecurity!
3rd-8th Grade
In this interactive workshop, GTRI researchers will engage students in hands-on activities that introduce fundamental cybersecurity concepts. Students will use GTRI-provided tools to create hidden messages and explore how mathematics is used in real-world cybersecurity to ensure that messages and emails can be trusted. We’ll also share free resources for students to continue their cybersecurity learning!
This workshop is aimed at Grades 3-8, with differentiated activities for 3-5 and 6-8. Students will benefit from an internet-connected device, such as a Chromebook or tablet.

Through our programs, teachers learn arts-integrated strategies, such as statues and tableau, that serve any content area and can be applied to their next lesson, unit of study, and/or project-based learning.  https://vimeo.com/647339170/c4bbbd839dK-5rebecca.pogue@alliancetheatre.org
Alliance TheatreVideo - Introduction to Arts IntegrationThe Alliance Theatre Institute partners with school districts and schools to deliver professional learning for educators and arts integrated and/or theater-based instruction for students. General classroom teachers benefit from an arts integrated unit, which connects an art form (theater) with another academic subject (such as English language arts, social studies, mathematics, or science).  Explore the definition and how you can bring these arts integrated strategies back to your classroom.https://vimeo.com/647330738/f92c0a0fc2K-12rebecca.pogue@alliancetheatre.org
